While shopping for my wedding dress, I invited my grandma to come with me. She was smiling the whole time, her eyes full of tears.
Then she whispered, “Sweetheart, you look beautiful. I wish I had this moment when I was young… but I never had a wedding dress or a real wedding.”
I was stunned — I had no idea. She told me they were too poor to afford one, so she just wore her Sunday best and got married at city hall.
Right then and there, I knew what I had to do.
I took her hand and said, “Grandma, today it’s your turn.”
She hesitated at first, but when she stepped into that beautiful gown, she looked like the happiest bride in the world.
