Users Criticize Meghan Markle, 43, for Looking ‘Old’ & Having ‘Bad Skin’ at Paley Honors Fall Gala – Photos
Meghan Markle’s royal husband went alone to another function to address suspicions about their marriage on the same day that she attended a special banquet where her appearance drew harsh criticism.
On December 4, prominent public people attended the renowned Paley Honors Fall Gala in Beverly Hills, California, looking dapper. Among the celebrities on the A-list guest list was 43-year-old Meghan Markle. Despite her sophisticated glam look, her physical features did not impress netizens.
The Duchess of Sussex wore a stylish strapless dress with a slit on one side and a long train that followed her around the red carpet for the glamorous event.
She accessorized her look with gorgeous diamond jewelry, such as her wedding ring, a gold bracelet, and an eye-catching necklace.
The 43-year-old finished off her appearance with an updo that left a few stray strands on one side to frame her face and open-toed, strapped heels. She also used minimal makeup to draw attention to her beauty.
At the event, the Duchess of Sussex was joined by the renowned actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry, 55, who was honored with a tribute during the gala.
The organization’s website provided details about the event, including information on how to purchase tickets and tables, stating, “The Paley Honors Award, presented by The Paley Center for Media, is the organization’s highest honor.”
The Paley Honors acknowledge individuals who have “consistently set the bar for excellence” through their “groundbreaking achievements in media.” As the leading nonprofit cultural institution in the world, the Paley Center is “dedicated to preserving our media history and exploring media’s powerful shaping influence on culture and society.”
Proceeds from the Paley Honors event are used to support the organization’s educational initiatives and the ongoing preservation of the Paley Archive. Frank A. Bennack Jr. serves as the organization’s chairman, while Maureen J. Reidy is the CEO and president.
In addition to posing for photos with Paley Honoree Tyler Perry, Meghan, who serves as a Tribute Chair for the Paley Center for Media, was seen socializing with the legendary actress and fellow Tribute Chair Kerry Washington, 47, who wore a sleek, form-fitting dress.
A video shared by Hello! Magazine showed the three of them sitting together at their beautifully decorated table, chatting and taking pictures. The outlet captioned the image, “Kerry Washington, Meghan Markle and Tyler Perry are the dinner table we want to be sat at!”
In another video posted on Instagram by Hello!, Meghan and Kerry were seen clapping and dancing in their seats as an appeal specialist called out paddle numbers.
While the event was filled with activity, online attention quickly shifted to Meghan. Some viewers voiced negative opinions about her appearance, with one person commenting on X, “She looks so old and untidy.”
One person shared close-up photos of Meghan’s skin with the comment, “Ageing like tanned leather,” while another remarked, “LOL LOL, she looks more like grandma too old [sic].”
“Oops Meghan, getting old [sic],” someone else added. “She looks mid fifty’s at best she ain’t 42 or whatever she claims [sic],” another commenter noted.
Bringing up the Princess of Wales, an Instagram user pointed out, “And her fans dare to drag Kate for ‘ageing’ [sic] LOL.” “She looks very old,” another observer commented.
“Who applied butter all over her face [sic]?” questioned one online user, while another commented, “She has bad skin.”
A social media user who suspects Meghan has undergone some cosmetic procedures remarked, “Oh wow she’s messing with plastic surgery too much. She doesn’t look like her original beautiful self anymore.” Another added, “What’s she done to her face, it looks different.”
An Instagram user shared their thoughts, stating, “Why is she so weird and awkward. [sic] She’s a woman in her forties but she’s all anxious and giggly and grabs at people. She’s got no finesse and she never looks stylish.”
A neutral observer remarked, “Looks nice .. Maybe showing age alittle [sic].” Meanwhile, one Instagram user questioned, “Who butchered her hair, disaster,” and another commented, “She needs a hairstylist. she [sic] has bed head.”
However, many others were quick to offer Meghan their praise. One fan wrote, “Keep thriving Meghan! unbothered and stunning [sic].” Another admirer defended her, stating, “Say what you will but this woman is both beautiful and adorable.”
Another supporter expressed their enthusiasm, saying, “Wow Meghan looks beautiful and very young, I love seeing her so beautiful and happy.”
Meghan’s husband, 40-year-old Prince Harry, made an appearance at another event on the same day that she went to the Paley Center Gala.
The Duke of Sussex sat down for an interview with Andrew Ross Sorkin, the creator and editor-at-large of DealBook, at The New York Times DealBook Summit.
Prince Harry talked about raising awareness of mental health issues and his charitable work to promote resilience and justice. Andrew brought up news stories during the conversation that focused on Prince Harry and Meghan’s attendance at different events and the conclusions that were made about their marriage.
Andrew proceeded to ask Prince Harry about how he copes with the relentless public scrutiny that he and Meghan Markle often face, questioning whether he considers it a “good thing.”
“No, that’s definitely not a good thing,” Prince Harry replied. He then addressed some of the absurd rumors about them, including claims that they had moved “ten/twelve times,” divorced, and were living separate lives.
“It’s hard to keep up with, but that’s why you just sort of ignore it. The people I feel most sorry about are the trolls […] But, yes, I have no doubt that everything we’ve spoken about today, in the last […] 25 minutes, will be spun or twisted somehow against me, and maybe you yourself will be trolled relentlessly,” he shared.
Wrapping up his response, the Duke of Sussex joked, “And for that, I can only apologize, but you did invite me, so it’s not my fault.”
