French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati may’ve lost out on an Olympic medal, but he could still earn $250,000.
The athlete competed in the men’s pole vault qualification on Saturday (August 3) but unfortunately missed out on his chance at a medal after his own body part got in the way.
Thankfully, the moment – which didn’t take long to go viral – might not’ve all been for nothing, with the incident having since peaked the interested of an adult film site.
Ammirati successfully cleared the 5.40 meters and 5.60 meters but when it came to 5.70 meters, something ended up standing in his way of the finals – his private area.
Footage revealed the moment it struck the pole and the pole went down, ruining his chances of an Olympic medal.
While commentators at the games ‘clearly’ had a ‘hard time acknowledging what happened,’ social media users certainly didn’t, flooding online in stitches.
One Twitter user said: “They definitely knew why but just couldn’t say it out loud.”
“When you lose but you still win,” another added.
And indeed, that might just be the case, with the athlete having since reportedly received an offer from an adult film site as a result of his big feat.
A letter allegedly from adult film site CamSoda vice president Daryn Parker and addressed to the athlete was obtained by TMZ Sports.
The outlet reports that Parker said: “If it was up to me, I’d award you for what everyone else saw, your talent below the belt.”
“As a lover of crotch-centric activities, I’d love to offer you up to $250,000 in exchange for a 60-minute webcam show, in which you show off your goods, minus the crossbar, of course.”
And it’s not taken long for people to flood to social media to weigh in.

One Twitter user said: “When one door closes, another one opens.”
“I guess he won something at the end of the day,” another added.
A third commented: “He can be a millionaire by just opening an OnlyFans account.”
Whether or not the athlete will respond to the offer?

Well, Ammirati reflected on his performance to the French Athletics Federation, he did say: “I’m just glad I can make people smile and laugh. And who knows, maybe this will be the start of something amazing!”
