If you can believe it, 13 Going on 30 turned 20 years old back in April, and star Jennifer Garner found a way to celebrate the anniversary while also getting in the Halloween spirit.
For her costume this year, Garner decided to dress up as her beloved character Jenna Rink, the heroine of the 2004 comedy, and re-wore one of Jenna’s best looks: the multicolored Versace minidress from the “Thriller” dance sequence.
Garner didn’t show us her moves, but she did re-create the getting-ready montage from 13 Going on 30 in a new Instagram clip, giving it a few tweaks to fit her current beauty routine.
In the video, Garner seems to wink at her life now as a 52-year-old, as she’s seen putting on retinol, applying eye makeup underneath her glasses, and slipping into a pair of Spanx. Her caption read: “Happy 20th Halloween, Jenna Rink.”
Although her character originally paired the dress with a set of bright blue heels and a pink shoulder bag, Garner decided instead to add some neon pink running sneakers, calf-length cream socks, and a gray crossbody bag. However, she completed the fit with the perfect finishing touch by wearing the same beaded teal butterfly necklace she wore in the film.
Back in April, when the official anniversary of 13 Going on 30 rolled around, Garner and her costars Mark Ruffalo and Judy Greer reunited for a Zoom call to reminisce about the rom-com. “Twenty years. We are three Boomers braving Zoom—because we want to thank you. 👴👵👵,” the trio wrote in their caption. “To every person who has loved this movie along with us: Thank You. We see you, we appreciate you and we love you back. Forever thirty, flirty and thriving! 💕”
