I Refused to Cancel My Honeymoon Despite My In-Law’s Tragedy
Upon marriage, we pledge to remain united through life’s highs and lows. Yet, following a tragic event soon after their wedding, Suzy and her spouse found themselves diverging. After a car accident involving his parents, Suzy’s partner wished to support them, but she insisted on proceeding with their planned honeymoon, believing it couldn’t wait. The situation took a heartbreaking turn, leading Suzy to seek guidance from us.We’d been planning our European honeymoon for a year. While returning from our wedding,
my MIL and FIL got into a car crash. They’re alive but badly hurt. My husband said he couldn’t just leave his family in the hospital. I said, “I’m your wife! You need to take care of me FIRST!” He refused, so I went alone. While there, I was scrolling Facebook and was horrified to see him post a new photo of himself with a female friend having coffee. I called him right away and said, “It doesn’t seem like you’re spending your time at the hospital after all.” He seemed annoyed and replied, “This was taken in the hospital cafeteria, and my friend Amy came to be by my side during this rough time, unlike you!” After 10 days, I returned from the honeymoon and got home. When opened the door, I was horrified to find a note on the table that said, “It’s better if we take some more time apart. It doesn’t seem like you know the value of family.” I am devastated and feel like my whole marriage ended before it started, but l am still convinced that he should have come with me on our honeymoon. What should I do?
