How To Clean Your Couch / Sofa fast, and easy
This sofa cleaning article was sponsored by OxiClean as part of their partnership with POPSUGAR Select. Even though I was paid to write a post about OxiClean Stain, all opinions are my.
There’s a time in your life when you know you can never have anything wonderful, especially not when your kids are tiny. A year ago, we had to replace our magnificent leather couch due to huge holes in the upholstery from little ones crawling all over it. Knowing full well that it would probably need to be replaced within five years as well, we searched for a gently used couch.
I was wise enough not to go out and buy a brand-new couch. If I had to buy a new couch again in five years, I would rather pay $250 instead of $1250.
I can vouch for the washability of the covers because I’ve had to launder it four or five times in the last year due to various “incidents” since we bought our couch on Craigslist. But the upholstery on the side of the couch where I found these berry stains a week ago is beyond me to clean. You may get a lot of usage out of this product for a relatively small investment because the OxiClean website lists over 101 uses. Let’s concentrate on couch cleaning for the duration of this piece, though.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- Oxi-Clean scoop (to the “B” line)
- funnel
- spray bottle
Use the hottest setting on your faucet to add the OxiClean to hot water—there’s no need to heat it first. Mix thoroughly to blend. Next, transfer the mixture using a funnel into your spray bottle, attach the nozzle, and give it a good shake to further blend.
Give your soiled areas a five-minute respite by spraying them until damp but not soggy. After the five minutes, use a moist white cloth to remove the stain, and then use a dry white cloth to remove any remaining stain treatment. Your stains ought to be eliminated! It’s time to go on a stain-treating spree over everything upholstered in your home, as this mixture you made will only work for approximately eight hours! While I was mixing this solution, I tackled our dining room chairs, and they now look much better! Anything that remains in the solution can be added to your subsequent washing load. Don’t waste and don’t want!
I’ve been using our OxiClean Stain product for the past week to tackle stains on our outdoor furniture cushions, get rid of set-in stains on my children’ clothes, and remove a really difficult “yellow” stain from a delicate white sweater that I neglected to take down for the autumn. How smoothly it functions and how helpful the product is has really pleased me. I adore how versatile it is!
With any luck, this post on couch cleaning will help you prolong the life of your sofa. Even if we might not be able to afford our ideal couches right now, we don’t have to put up with all those stains on them!
