Homemade Wonton Soup
Meat-filled wontons swim in a clear but intense flavored broth enhanced with ginger, soy, sesame and garlic.
Ingredients
- 30 Wonton Wrappers
Wonton filling
- 8 ounces of ground pork
- 2 finely chopped green onions
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
- 1 ½ teaspoons cornstarch
Broth
- 8 cups of chicken broth
- 2 whole garlic cloves
- 2 ginger slices approx. 1/4
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 sliced green onions
Wontons
In a large bowl combine all the filling ingredients.
Place one teaspoon of filling in the center of a wonton wrapper. Wet the edges and fold them in half to create a triangle. Wet the two longer ends and join them together. Press together.
Dip the bottom in flour and place it in a parchment lined tray. Repeat with the remaining wontons.
Soup
Bring all the ingredients of the broth to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove garlic and ginger and discard.
Add the wontons and simmer 4-6 minutes or until the pork is well cooked. Serve immediately.
