Happy 75th birthday to Ron Perlman — born April 13, 1950 in Manhattan, New York!

Ron first captured our attention in the 1980s, when he roared onto the scene (literally!) as Amoukar in Quest for Fire (1981) and as the unforgettable Salvatore in The Name of the Rose (1986). But it was his iconic turn as the tender-hearted beast Vincent in Beauty and the Beast (1987–1990) that made him a household name — and earned him a Golden Globe.

He’s been a fan favorite ever since — transforming in the ‘90s and beyond into a cult icon with roles in The City of Lost Children, Alien Resurrection, Blade II, Hellboy (2004, 2008), Sons of Anarchy, Pacific Rim, Drive, Don’t Look Up, and more. Whether he’s a demon with a heart of gold or a ruthless biker kingpin, Perlman always brings the fire.

He’s also one of the most legendary voice actors out there — from Fallout (“War… war never changes”) to Teen Titans, Adventure Time, Batman, Halo, Transformers, The Book of Life and Tangled, he’s voiced villains, warriors, narrators, and everything in between.

Off-screen, Ron’s personal story is just as compelling. A New York native with humble roots and a passion for storytelling, he’s a husband, father, and proud advocate for causes close to his heart — and never afraid to speak his mind.
