Hank Northrop, the Son of Wayne Northrop and Lynn Herring, Lands Role on Days of our Lives
In a very full circle moment, Hank Northrop, the real-life son of the late Days of our Lives favorite, Wayne Northrop (ex-Roman) and General Hospital’s Lynn Herring (Lucy), is following in his parents footsteps and has booked a role on the Peacock streaming soap opera.
Northrop, who is a professional actor, will arrive on-screen in a role that is being kept under wraps and will be seen late this year on the series since DAYS tapes nine months ahead of air. Hank shared the news of his Days of our Lives gig with TV Insider, and how emotional landing the role actually was, especially following the death of his father.

Hank shared the news of his Days of our Lives gig with TV Insider, and how emotional landing the role actually was, especially following the death of his father.
As previously reported, Wayne Northrop passed away from his battle with Alzheimer’s disease back back on November 29th, 2024 at the age of 77. Wayne played the original Roman Brady from 1981-1984 and again in 1991-1994 and had one of the most popular love stories in DAYS history with Deidre Hall (Marlena). He later rejoined DAYS in 2005-2006 as Dr. Alex North, a one-time medical school classmate of Marlena’s.
Hank received word he booked the part on his birthday on January 9th of this year: “I got the call saying, ‘Congratulations, you’ve booked Days of our Lives.’ And I just immediately broke down in tears. It was so cosmic. It was almost like my dad had given me a birthday present, the first birthday after his passing, to help me through the trauma of dealing with his passing. You can’t script it. It gave me the ability to cope with it a little more. It was just such a beautiful full-circle moment.”
When Hank arrives on-screen in Salem, he will be appearing with another DAYS legend, Daytime Emmy-winner James Reynolds (Abe). Northrop recalled, “First of all, it was so cool because he and my dad had such a great working relationship, and they didn’t tell him that I was coming on to work with him. So when I saw him for the first time, he just lit up. My dad always said, ‘James has the best laugh you’ll ever hear,’ and I finally got to hear it in person. This man just lights up the room. He was so kind to me. We honestly couldn’t stop hugging each other.”
As to how his mom GH’s Lynn Herring and the former Lisanne Gardner of DAYS reacted to the news of Hank’s role, he expressed, “She is ecstatic. She wants to scream it from the rooftops. She has been so supportive. She gave me so much great advice before my first day and gave me so many tips heading into it. She’s been the best support system I could possibly ask for. I feel so privileged and so honored to have her in my life.”
