In Russia’s Rostov region, a cat called Murka became the mother of five hoglets whose mother recently d.i.e.d in an accident.

Murka’s owner, Ekaterina Semenova, informed a KP – Rostov-on-Don journalist about her cat’s large heart. Workers were cutting hay near their house around three weeks ago, according to her testimony, when something horrific happened.

“The grass reached their shoulders. They were using a trimmer, a type of hay mower. As a result, the machine ran over the hedgehogs’ nest. “We discovered a mother and a brood of hoglets only after the grass was trimmed,” Semenova remembered.

Unfortunately, the mother hedgehog and one of the hoglets were k.i.l.l.ed. And, while five of the litter survived, they had little prospect of survival because there appeared to be no one to care for them.

“They were little and blind. They didn’t even have spikes on their feet. “I felt terrible for the babies, so I brought them home,” Ekaterina explained.

She tried using a pipette to feed them milk at first, but it didn’t work. In a panic, she phoned a veterinary friend, who advised her to look for a nursing cat.

According to the expert, only 30% of nursing cats accept to care for the children of other animals.

“It just so happened that three weeks ago, our Murka gave birth to a kitten.” So I gave her the hedgehogs. “The cat embraced them right away as her own,” the woman stated.

Murka has been feeding five hedgehogs for the past three weeks. They have, by the way, sprouted spikes and opened their eyes. Kittens and hedgehogs appear to be part of the same family.

“Murka, the cat, and the hoglets all sleep in the same soft box.” I believe the hedgehogs will coexist with humans in this manner. “After all, they’ve grown entirely tame,” Semenova said with a smile, adding that she was pleased of Murka.

“She is really kind and intelligent.” “Our shining light.”
