Fifty years later, friends get together to recreate a photo from their youth
In 1964, British musician, drummer, singer, songwriter and actor Richard Starkey, better known as Ringo Starr, took a photo of five teenagers who skipped school to go see the Beatles. Fifty years later, the friends got together to recreate the iconic photograph.
The image shows the difference in eras and the change in its protagonists over the years.
Ringo Starr was the drummer for the rock band The Beatles. Before joining The Beatles, Starr was a member of another Liverpool band, Rory Storm and the Hurricanes.
Starr’s creative contribution to the music of The Beatles was the subject of praise by musicians and critics.
Drummer Steve Smith commented that Starr’s popularity “gave birth to a new paradigm where the drummer began to be seen as a more active participant in the compositional aspect.”
In 2011, readers of Rolling Stone magazine voted Starr the fifth greatest drummer of all time.
