At a recent concert, the “Queen of Country Pop” enthralled her audience, but her strong voice wasn’t the only thing that caught their attention. Continue reading to find out why everyone is talking about it!
With her most recent performance in Las Vegas, music legend Shania Twain, who is renowned for her audacious and avant-garde style, has provoked strong reactions. The 59-year-old performed in an eye-catching outfit that went viral right away.
An elegant touch was added by the sheer lace trimming that was draped over a silver, metallic bodysuit that embraced Twain’s form. With every step, she radiated glamor as she accessorized the ensemble with a flowing pale pink jacket. Her aggressive stage demeanor was further enhanced by her matching cowboy hat and pink sunglasses, and the sparkly platform heels she wore completed the eye-catching ensemble.
Reactions on Facebook varied from disbelief to condemnation. “Is that an adult diaper?” a user asked. “Those costumes are ridiculous!” said another. How could she possibly believe that she needs them?
Twain’s attempt to push the bounds of fashion was questioned by some. “Her outfit isn’t working; she looks trashy and is trying to be at least twenty years younger (sorry).” One person commented, “Does look like a diaper [sic].” Another said, “I feel bad for the female artists in my [generation].” They won’t accept their sunsets.
Some Facebook users were more straightforward. “She is elderly. Put on some clothing. One person commented, “Have some class.” “It really looks like a rhinestone diaper!” said another. Nonetheless, some recognized Twain’s charm and physical prowess. One fan commented, “This outfit is terrible, but she is in great shape.”
Users kept expressing their dissatisfaction, with one commenting, “What a terrible look for her! One person said, “She needs to eat and wear [age-appropriate] clothes,” while another said, “She is so tacky and classless, I expect better from Shania.”
The conversation proceeded on X (previously Twitter) with a range of criticisms and insights. One person commented, “The designer need to be let go. It appears to be a diaper. She is in excellent physical condition, so if she chooses to wear the outfit and people are willing to pay to see it, then so be it.” Another revealed, “She appears to be wearing a diaper. This isn’t appealing.
“It is actually a body suit with skin color, full skin color tights with costume elements over it (or could be sewn to it),” some justified Twain’s decision. She is therefore completely clothed [sic] despite being skin tight.
According to another, “Well, first off, she has a type of full-body pantyhose thing going on.” However, one commenter commented, “Regardless, she is trim!” despite the justifications.
Users on TikTok expressed a range of sentiments, from admiration to anxiety. “Any singer I notice who is in decline always starts shedding the clothing,” one commenter stated. It’s really depressing. It completely detracts from their abilities. Someone more said, “whomever decided on this wardrobe for Her should be FIRED [sic]!”
According to a critical fan, “She looks fantastic, but the bottoms don’t look good because the ‘old lady legs’ are visible.” Trying too hard [sic] is the result. But not every response was critical; others had a more sympathetic tone. “That outfit is dreadful,” one user said, and another said, “I’m embarrassed for her.”
Twain has stayed committed to interacting with her fans and enjoying the last performances of 2024 in Las Vegas despite the wardrobe scandal. The country music artist posted a vibrant Instagram picture of herself and a number of her fans, including young girls and ladies, on December 6.
“If I don’t invite my gorgeous fans up onto the @phlivevegas stage during a show… is it even a Shania Twain show?!,” she commented beside the pictures. What a crowd! We had an amazing Wednesday night in Vegas! You guys were quite good at having a good time.
Twain wrote earlier on December 1 that she was thrilled to be performing again for the holidays. “I am so grateful to be back in my happy spot this holiday weekend,” she wrote in her statement. “The first night back at @phlivevegas to kick up the final shows of 2024 did not disappoint! I’m thrilled to see all of you beautiful people again tonight, and I appreciate you all coming out and singing along to every word.”
The momentum behind Twain’s L.A. adventure is growing as she builds on her recent performances. “Shania Twain: COME ON OVER – The Las Vegas Residency – All The Hits!” is the title of the new Las Vegas residency that the five-time Grammy Award winner announced she would be headlining in 2024 on CBS Mornings in August 2023. On May 10, 2024, this eagerly awaited residency made its debut at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’s Bakkt Theater.
“It is a very special time for me,” Twain said during the announcement, expressing her joy. Being on stage makes me happy than ever. I am simply enjoying life, sharing my new music, and feeling incredibly content. I hope to simply get up there and spread more positivity and inspiration.”
“All the hits will be on the show and hopefully we will just have a lot of fun together,” she assured fans, describing the residency as a “reshare” of her classic Come On Over album, which was released 25 years ago.
On August 15, 2023, Twain also shared a humorous short clip on Instagram to announce the news. “The word is out: I’m going back to Vegas! Come On Over, my brand-new residency, will open at @bakkttheaterlv in @phvegas in May 2024! I’m going all out for you. “Acquire your tickets right away!” was the caption.
Twain expressed her excitement in July 2024 about going back on stage for the upcoming portion of her residency, which honors her seminal 1997 album Come On Over. The endeavor, according to her, is a special tribute to the album that is still the best-selling album ever by a female solo artist.
Twain also considered how she rose from modest origins to fame. Due to financial limitations, she frequently had to style herself early in her career. “I just went to Target to acquire the clothes for ‘Any Man of Mine’ and ‘Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under’. “And then I just took out of my closet the denim on denim, which has become a pretty fun thing for fans to wear,” she remarked.
She started her career as a child performing in country bars in Ontario, Canada. She said, “I was very uncomfortable with it,” referring to the fact that she had performed in adult establishments, several of which featured cages.
Because the grownups in her life thought she was destined for success, Twain acted in spite of the discomfort. Her career goals, however, were more in line with becoming an engineer or veterinarian.
But her passion remained music. Twain took the audacious choice to concentrate on writing her next album rather than traveling when The Woman in Me became popular in 1995. “Many individuals lost a great deal of money because I didn’t go on tour. I didn’t care, though. I wrote a better album when I committed to the writer inside of me,” she said.
The choice was wise, as Come On Over became a ground-breaking hit with songs like “Man! “You’re Still the One” and “I Feel Like a Woman!”
The singer-songwriter, who was born in Canada, is resilient and adaptable outside of her job. Her strategy for conquering stage fear was influenced by her own struggles, which included throat surgery, the unexpected death of her parents at the age of 22, and a public divorce. “I just decided there were so many other things that were genuinely worth being afraid of — being on stage isn’t one of them,” she said.
Twain claimed that spending time with her five horses on her ranch provided her with comfort in between performances. “I can just go out my door and do this in this small park sanctuary. In her interview from July 2024, she said, “It’s really serene and tranquil.”
Shania Twain’s daring decisions in music and fashion never cease to provoke discussion and solidify her impact.
She demonstrates her persistent ability to command the spotlight and make a lasting impression as she embraces her Las Vegas residency and engages with fans.
