Ellen DeGeneres clashes with Cotswolds neighbors over extension ‘breach’ at $18M home

Ellen DeGeneres has reportedly clashed with her British neighbors in the Cotswolds over an extension at her multimillion-dollar home.

The former talk show host, 67, packed up and moved to England with her wife, Portia de Rossi, in November 2024.

The duo purchased a stunning farmhouse in the hoity-toity area for an eye-popping $18 million — some $3 million over the asking price.

However, since starting afresh in the UK, the duo have faced some blowback after wanting to put in an extension in their home, with locals charging that the move increases flood risk, the Daily Mail reports.

The “Finding Dory” star committed a “technical breach” when building their single-story extension, the outlet claims.

Now, the local parish council has allegedly received several objections from residents who are speaking out against the comedian’s home.

“The onus is on the owner to report any historic remains uncovered,” council documents read, as three parish counsellors expressed concerns that nearby Roman remains could be affected.

Other residents noted that the hedge and wire fence at DeGeneres’ home could increase flood risk in the village, as trash could become “caught in the fence” and subsequently limit “flow across the field.”

However, a spokesperson for West Oxfordshire District Council said the Roman remains are more than 200 yards from their property, and that the work was “completed to a high standard.”

“I was at the meeting when it was discussed and yes, I contacted the officer because an extension had gone up without permission,” district counsellor Rosie Pearson told the Oxford Mail.

“It was found not to be a material breach, and that there had been no threat to any possibility of Roman remains.”

“I completely accepted this and have every confidence in the planning officers’ judgment,” Pearson added.

The Post has reached out to the West Oxfordshire District Council and DeGeneres’ reps for comment.

It emerged in November 2024 that the couple relocated to England in the wake of Donald Trump’s presidential election victory over Kamala Harris.

The pair purchased their Cotswolds property, located about two hours outside London, and are reportedly looking to plant firm roots there.

Insiders told TMZ that the duo decided to “get the hell out” of the country immediately following President Trump’s victory, which left them feeling “very disillusioned.”

The couple, who wed in 2008, will likely “never” return to the US on a permanent basis, sources claim.

While it’s not clear exactly why the pair decided on the Cotswolds, the region is a picturesque and wealthy part of England, with many British stars boasting country houses there.

Their star-studded list of neighbors includes David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Elizabeth Hurley and Jeremy Clarkson.

The area is also home to royalty, as King Charles and Queen Camilla own Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.

Just days after it was reported that they moved to the UK, DeGeneres and the “Arrested Development” alum were spotted visiting Clarkson’s pub, the Farmer’s Dog, located in the area.

In a since-deleted clip shared by the former “Top Gear” host’s girlfriend Lisa Hogan on Instagram, the couple were seen sipping drinks as they enjoyed some live music at the rustic pub.

The couple’s home was later rumored to have been flooded following a storm, but DeGeneres took to social media in December to set the record straight.

“For those of you concerned, our UK farmhouse did NOT flood,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
