Beyoncé and Blue Ivy had a sweet matching mother-daughter moment last night for the world premiere of Disney’s Mufasa, a live-action prequel to The Lion King in which Blue voices Kiara, the daughter of Beyoncé’s lioness character Nala.
Beyoncé co-ordinated with her 12-year-old daughter in gold, with the mogul wearing a strapless black Balmain gown studded with metallic gold discs. The dress was, fittingly, from a special collection that Olivier Rousteing designed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Lion King earlier this year. Blue took the spotlight in a voluminous Christian Siriano gown made of glossy fabric with a glinting gold sheen.
Tina took a more subdued approach to her style. The family matriarch wore a black off-the-shoulder top with black trousers and a leather belt with an ornate, oversize gold buckle, tying in the details of her look with her daughter and granddaughter’s gold outfits.
This isn’t the first time Beyoncé and Blue have used the red carpet as an opportunity for a matching fashion moment; the mother-and-daughter duo coordinated on the red carpet for The Lion King premiere in 2019, both opting for crystal-embellished suit jackets layered over black tulle skirts, also adorned with jewels.
The family’s appearance comes a day after Jay-Z, whose born name is Shawn Carter, was accused of the sexual assault of a minor, with rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs 24 years ago. The lawsuit was originally filed in October, naming Combs as the defendant. On Sunday, the suit was refiled to include Jay-Z. Jay-Z has denied the allegations.
