Once you get to a certain age, you start to appreciate the importance of money. Money can indeed buy happiness but it does provide a sense of security. Nobody strives to be poor. And some people who are currently wealthy grew up in poor homes, so they never want to experience poverty again. Having money is nothing to be ashamed of. If you have worked hard to earn your money, it is up to you how you will spend it. But, the bigger problem is when accumulating money becomes a priority. Those who strive to have more money will never realize that no matter the amount of wealth they have, they won’t be happier than they are now. There are lots of celebrities who have destroyed their lives because of drug or alcohol abuse, depression, etc. They are successful and wealthy but they do not have enough happiness in their lives because money will never provide that for them. Money will never buy happiness as well as the following 10 things.
1. Love
Money might buy attraction, power, and lust but never love. Love is intimate, heartfelt, and mysterious while money is none of that. Money is just a method of exchange for buying products or services and to provide comfort and luxury but none of those things are what human beings really need. We learn this lesson the hard way. The more money we have the emptier we feel because society has taught us that wealth is the root of happiness, while in fact, it is a false belief and a misconception.
2. Truth
Money can buy you influence but it will never be more influential than truth. Money is often used to push an agenda or beliefs as well as to bolster an opinion, but in the end, it will never be more powerful than the truth which will come out sooner or later.
3. Time
Every minute that passes is precious and you will never get it back. The more time passes the closer you get to the end of your life. This may seem morbid but it is true. No matter how advanced science or medicine gets, there is no way of prolonging our lives as much as we want to. All the attempts to extend the lives of wealthy people were in vain because their lives ended around the same age as others. Money will never turn the clocks back, so live in the moment and appreciate every day that you get.
4. Peace
Your peace comes from your thoughts, and if you know how to accept bad things and turn them into a positive experience, you will be able to get peace. There are lots of people and governments that spend enormous amounts of money in the name of peace, but they never achieve it. Our inner peace never depends on our bank accounts. It is defined by how we set our expectations, how we train our minds, and how we perceive inner peace.
5. Talent
Your gifts and abilities are priceless. Money can help develop a talent, but will never be able to buy it. Having talents or skills is what comes from within us and they are priceless.
6. Health
Money can buy you healthcare and medicine but once your natural health is gone it will never replace it. But, activities such as preventative medicine, exercise, and self-care can prevent the damage before it is done and they usually cost nothing. Also, you should never try to stop the natural process of aging which is normal, unlike the cosmetic procedures that claim to reverse the time on your face.
7. Manners/class
Rude people are everywhere and how they treat others does not depend on how much money they have. In fact, some of the wealthiest people can be the rudest people. They consider them a higher class, but that does not make them classy.
8. True friends
Having lots of possessions will attract people who want to be your friends, but how many of them will actually be true friends? As we already mentioned love, and money will also never buy true friendship.
9. Knowledge
What you learn, your intellect and the way you perceive wisdom is something money can never buy. Some of the wealthiest people often act in a very unreasonable way probably because the amount of money they have interferes with their thought process. Wealthy people often think they are invincible which leads them to make bad decisions. Knowledge is priceless and the ability to use it is something you will never get with lots of money.
10. Presence and acceptance
The ability to be present and non-judgmental are also other qualities that money can’t buy. People who seek to understand will apply these concepts. We need to accept each moment and learn how to be present. If we know how to do this, excessive money will never satisfy us because we know there are other more valuable things.
