Since cleaning can be a total bummer we went out looking for tips and tricks on how to make cleaning a little easier and less time-consuming! These cleaning hacks will make your life so much easier and give you more time in the day for things you really want to do!
1. Keep A Catch-All Bin In Your Living Room
Do your high-traffic rooms get cluttered quickly? Simply toss items that don’t belong in that room into a specified bin (I really like this one) to keep the room clutter-free. Later you can put everything in its proper place.
2. Clean Baseboards With A Broom
Do you avoid cleaning your baseboards so you can avoid getting on your hands and knees? There is an easier way! Wrap a microfiber cloth around your broom and secure it with a rubber band. Spray with a dusting cleaner like Pledge to easily clean your baseboards and even your walls!
3. Use Coffee Filters
Did you know you can use coffee filters to clean your computer screens or TV? They are so much better to use than paper towels because they don’t leave behind any fibers like paper towels or cleaning cloths do! Go try it today!
4. Keep Your Rooms Smelling Fresh
Are you constantly lighting candles or spraying air fresheners? Stop wasting your time and put dryer sheets on the back of your A/C vents. When the air moves through the vents it will move the scent through your home!
5. Wash Toys in Your Dishwasher
Just thinking about washing all my kid’s toys makes me tired. Save time by tossing them into the dishwasher with a few cups of white vinegar to clean and disinfect them. This will save you so much time!
6. Clean Your Oven Overnight
Does your oven need cleaned but you don’t want to spend all evening scrubbing it? Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit, then turn it off. Place a pan of boiling water on the lower rack and a bowl of ammonia on the top. Leave them in the oven overnight. In the morning use a rag to wipe away the gunk!
7. Remove Gunk From A Dirty Pot
Don’t waste your evening scrubbing a dirty pot. Put a dryer sheet in it and fill it with water. Then let it sit overnight. The chemicals in the dryer sheet will soften the gunk on the pan making it easy to wipe away.
8. Vacuum the Right Way
Who would have ever thought there was a right way to vacuum? But when you think about it, vacuuming in only one direction doesn’t remove all the dirt. So how do you get your carpet clean the first time around? Start in one corner and vacuum horizontally and then vertically until you reach the other side of the room. This ensures all the dirt is being removed from the fibers in your carpet.
9. Clean Small Spaces
This is such brilliant why didn’t I think of this hack! Shop Vacs are amazing to have but it is hard to clean small tight spaces with them. So to get in those hard-to-reach areas tape a squeeze bottle top to the end of your vacuum hose! You can get these squeeze bottle lids at any store in the baking goods area.
10. Use A Cleaning Binder
One of the biggest cleaning hacks to save you time is to use a Cleaning Binder! Cleaning Binders are the perfect way to make a plan of what needs to be cleaned daily, weekly, or even monthly & yearly! You can use it to make chore charts for everyone in your family, remind yourself to clean out the garage once a year, wash windows every winter and fall, or make sure you complete your daily cleaning tasks and keep your home clean every day!
