Many mothers ask the question, “How do I find a way to do it all?”. That answer may remain a mystery, but a mother of 16 children is doing everything she can to take care of her family and the community.

Lyette Reback was raised as an only child. She never babysat for neighbors after school, and she never changed a soiled diaper. Despite her lack of expertise, Lyette always thought she was supposed to establish her own large family. I mean a large family. Lynette and David met when they were 19 years old.

They married just ten days afterward. Lynette was pregnant with her first child two years later and gave birth to a girl, Daly Kay, now 21. Everything else is history. The diligent Palm Beach, Florida, couple went on to have six daughters Ryli, 20; Bliss, 19; Kemper, 17; glory, 15; Trinity, 13; Liberty, 11; Sojourner, eight; victory, six; and Verity, four, and sons Courson, 12, Judson, 10, Shepherd, ten, Ransom, eight, and Stone, five, are among her other children.

Lyette’s friends would label her as insane. Strangers would laugh at the prospect of having so many children. After all, we’re talking about 88 different sports activities each week, 42 loads of laundry per week, and $650 in wholesale goods every week, which includes 12 gallons of milk, 100 eggs, 40 pounds of chicken, and 50 pounds of potatoes. That’s a lot of huge figures.

Lyette also homeschools her three children in their three-bedroom house. But Lyette and David claim they were destined to have so many children. And they weren’t done extending their family yet.

‘When the amount of children we have comes up in conversation or people see us out and about and don’t know our family, they say, “holy mackerel.”

Lyette has spent ten years of her life pregnant, gaining and losing 600 pounds in baby weight and going through labor a dozen times without a single C-section. The mother of 16 frequently transports her children in a minibus. And she transports them to 88 different sports practices every week. Despite having a full plate, the amazing mother, who has published a parenting book. She even finds time to work out and go out to dinner with friends owing to a tight chores schedule.

“If I had known then that I would have 16 kids by the time I was 40, I would have thought it was crazy,” she added.

“Oh my god, you are insane; how are you doing that?” I thought at first when there were four or five tiny girls.

People would make jokes or ask, “Don’t you have a TV in your bedroom?”

Clearly, these statements were made in bemusement or to suggest my stupidity, but I am not stupid.

Now that some of them are older and doing well in life, it appears like it is less of a freak show, and they are saying, “Oh, maybe you’re not a weirdo,” Lyette said.

However, the pair appears to be content to break tradition, as Lyette revealed on her blog.

You adapt that style as much as your family grows. Children are not always that difficult; it depends on how willing you are to parent them the way they should be.

So, the point here is that Lyette and David are fond of the parenting style they have adapted, and this is how their life works now. Some people, as mentioned by Lyette, call her ‘crazy,’ but what you choose to do in life, only you know why you want that thing, and God gives you the strength to even fulfill it. So in their case, no matter how exhausting it may sound to you, it will always be something they actually intended to do.
