Some people wait for ages to meet their special person.
Though finding true love is an amazing feeling, it is even more incredible when you get it after waiting and struggling for months and years together.
Ms. Anne Cooper-Menguy, 88-year-old has been an interior designer for more than 60 years and has had her work displayed in Architectural Digest and Interior Design magazines. And Dr. Robert Marshall, 93-year-old has been a resident of East Hampton for nearly 40 years. He was educated at Rutgers, City College of New York, Columbia University, and the State University at Buffalo, where he earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology.
Both Dr. Marshall and Ms. Cooper-Menguy have been married previously. She has a daughter, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He has two daughters, three grandchildren, and one step-grandchild. Before visiting dating online site, Robert and Anne had both experienced widowhood. Thus while most older people see the death of a partner as the “end of an era,” people are now “healthier and living longer.”
Marshall immediately fell in love of her profile in October 2019 and he said that Anne certainly is a gorgeous lady. They said they both felt it was love at first sight. Their first date was at the Bernards Inn in Bernardsville, N.J., near where the bride was previously living.
If you find someone you love in your life, then hang on to that love.
Even though the couple may have political differences, they find common ground and “are so happy to have found each other. Anne Cooper-Menguy says: “He’s everything I ever dreamed of in a man since I was little”. The Marshalls took an early honeymoon in 2020, stepping off a cruise ship just as the Covid-19 pandemic was setting in.
The couple have decided to settle in East Hampton while maintaining a residence in New York City, and have plans to winter in Florida and take frequent cruises. “I started to fall in love with him right off the bat,” Anne says. “He’s got gentleness mixed with strength. He’s everything I ever dreamed of in a man since I was little.” Their initial infatuation only seemed to grow bigger.
Staying with Robert during the lockdown in East Hampton, she managed to redecorate both their beach home and his New York apartment after it flooded. Given that Anne is an interior designer, it should’ve been an interesting process for both of them. “We’re busy all the time. I don’t think I ever sit down,” Anne says. “We’re extremely well matched, which is very unusual. If you get old, and you find somebody who’s old and tired, that’s not going to work.”
Two souls with but a single thought, two hearts that beat as one.
The pair got engaged on Christmas after their cruise and quarantine, and on June 11, they wed at East Hampton Point.
The bride, who was stunning in a pink dress with a lace top, declared:
Additionally, Robert added that the memorable day will live in his mind forever and that they “touched so many souls” and are “so pleased” to have met. “The whole room was full of nothing but love, both sides of the aisle.” Robert cries just remembering the day. “We touched so many souls,” he says, “because we love each other so much. We’re so happy to have found each other.”
Robert says of their relationship. “We laugh a lot… The other night, I couldn’t stop laughing.” He also mentions how Anne has become such and important part of his life. “I feel really very alive living with Anne — she’s helped bring me back to life,” Robert says. “We’re so happy to have found each other.”
“It was the best wedding ever,” Anne says of their East Hampton Point nuptials.
Some of their wedding guests – from friends to grandchildren – have been inspired to pursue love and long-term relationships too. ”We have such a strong, sincere, warm love,” Anne says. “It’s contagious.” Jazz Clubs or couple projects, Anne and Robert have managed to restore some semblance of faith back into online dating.
Online dating has revolutionized the way people meet. Today you can meet and start dating anyone from any part of the world in a matter of minutes. However, it’s not all a bed of roses as it comes with a new set of challenges. Good things come to those who wait, Better things come to those who try.
